The Desiderata

The Desiderata

This popular poem of pactical wisdom and eternal truths (often attributed as anonymous) was written by poet Max Ehrmann in 1927. We present it here as an image made from pure typography. Designed and handset in Goudy's types, it is printed letterpress in three colors on a handmade paper from Twinrocker mill. We hung a framed copy of this piece by our door so that when we leave the house a short phraseâ€""Go placidly," or "take kindly the counsel of the years"â€"will catch our eye and help our day. It's a favorite gift of wisdom. Shown here with sea green mat.

Broadside, unmatted, 11 x 14 inches
